Dental Implant Placement

If you have an area in your mouth where you have lost a tooth/teeth due to cavities, trauma, periodontal disease or failed root canals-dental implants can be used to replace those missing teeth and restore your dentition. The first step in dental implant placement is the planning stage. In this stage, we will capture a CBCT scan in our office to carefully measure the amount of bone present. From there, we’re able to pick the proper size implant post to mimic the root structure of the former natural tooth. Dental implants can be placed immediately (at the same time) as a dental extraction or they may have to be delayed depending on how the tooth comes out, and what the extraction site looks like.  If the dental extraction site does not look favorable, bone grafting/socket preservation takes place, and the implant may be placed 4-6 months from the day the tooth is removed.
